Welcome to my office
Hi friends! C’mon in and take a seat. My name is Debbie and I have questions. That’s what the intention of this blog will be. I capture questions and thoughts and try to process these through writing. I love conversations and hope to build a community of people talking.
What will you encounter in my office? I pray will see an honest person who wears her heart on her sleeve. I hope you will catch some of my optimism, join me in some laughter, and understand more how we can be a source of joy and light to those we encounter.
Let me begin with a bit of a heads-up. I am an unapologetic believer in Jesus Christ and take the Bible as the Word of God. This is not to dissuade anyone from reading and/or commenting on my articles. My intentions are not to convince anyone they should be a Jesus follower as that is an intensely personal decision, but my worldview is shaped by what it means to be a Christian.
I am also a person who lives in this world. I do not live in a bubble or under a rock. I work in a diverse office environment. I talk with people every day who come from different backgrounds and have beliefs that may be different from my own. I find them all interesting and try my best to honor their convictions. Everyone has value and I try to learn from them. There are parts of my story that I am not proud of. I am constantly humbled by how imperfect I am. If you are honest with yourself you know you are not perfect either. So I am not coming from a lofty place or the basement because it’s not my job to judge anyone. Just picture us sitting across from one another in my comfy office having a conversation.
Most importantly, I am a human being who is a thinker. I will never claim to be an authority on the Bible. If an article I author contains a concrete error I would love to know this in a graceful manner. If an article I author contains a viewpoint that does not match yours I ask that you comment in such a manner that does not include disparaging people, calling my convictions into question, or other “tear down” methods.
Why am I telling you this? I hope you will remember that a blog is a place to capture thoughts, wrestle with ideas and hopefully put some order to a busy brain. The best outcome would be the start of conversations. I would be honored at the very least to start a thought process in my readers.
Yours with questions,
